The Computer Society of India, Jamia Millia Islamia student Chapter, is one such society which has believed in the same since its formulation in the year 2002 under the mentorship of Prof. M.N Doja, Md. Sohrabuddin and other faculty members of the Deptt. Of Computer Engineering and the active enthusiasm of the students.

The society has flourished over the years in its journey from a consortium of 75 odd members to becoming the largest active student society in the university. It has proved to be true to its image of a techno-cultural society enabling students to direct their creative input other than academics, thus, expanding their horizon beyond the curriculum.

In this year itself, the society successfully organized more than Ten workshops and seminars- ‘Ethical Hacking Workshop’, ‘Web Development sessions’, ‘Basic and advanced C classes’, ‘Introductory Linux Classes’ and ‘Java Introductory Sessions’ to name a few. In addition
to these, a number of other competitions like Extempore, Grammatical and vocabulary Quizzes,General Quizzes, Face painting, Rangoli making, Debate competition etc were also held, thereby,offering the members a chance to indulge in activities to bring out personality traits that pure academics might sometimes suppress.

In terms of exposure and career guidance, CSI JMI annually holds a large number of expert sessions in forming about the various options one could explore after having passed out of college. Last year, experts from ‘Career Launcher’ were invited to discuss the topic ‘MBA as an option after graduation’. Also ‘conf@JMILUG’, a linux based conference was held providing the members a chance to gain guidance regarding the emerging ‘Open Source Projects’ from some of India’s best Linux experts.

However, the most enchanting and spectacular event organized by CSI JMI is its annual techno-cultural fest Algorhythm. The fest provides the students with a platform to exhibit technical, coording and managerial skills. It serves as a podium for the students to express their extra-curricular talents.
